We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a fast-moving team to enable payments, subscription, provisioning, and revenue collection across our entire product line as we rapidly scale up.

About the Team

Postman engineering builds delightful experiences for developers who build modern software for the API first world. We’re a small team that learns from each other and iterates rapidly to make a large impact. The goal of the Billing and Subscriptions team is to build an accurate, reliable, and comprehensive billing engine for monetization of our cloud product. We aim to provide solid infrastructure and rich functionality that allow for rapid iteration. At Postman, Billing and Subscription encompasses aspects of both customer facing product and associated internal operations. This governs the lifecycle of subscription, usage, payment, billing & revenue.

What You'll Do

  • Drive the billing/payments/subscriptions team of a SaaS product through an order-of-magnitude growth increase.
  • Develop interfaces with product/business teams to support flexibility in pricing, packaging, and promotional campaigns
  • With a deep understanding of how operations and systems work, help prioritize, streamline and plan engineering requirements for the team.
  • Deliver iteratively on the roadmap and maintain SLAs for the microservices following the Maturity Model framework.
  • Research and implement industry-standard practices to comply with regulatory and business reporting requirements.
  • Passionately share the responsibility of developing and advancing the career of ours engineers in the team
  • Contribute to company-wide engineering initiatives as part of Postman’s engineering management team.
  • Scale and operate the systems that power our billing and payment workflows.
  • Build suitable abstractions to ease planned future development.
  • Research and implement industry-standard practices to comply with regulatory and business reporting requirements.
  • Manage the roadmap and SLAs for the microservices following the Maturity Model framework.
  • Develop engineers on the team and help them advance in their careers. Conduct regular 1-1s with the team.
  • Hire and mentor great engineers, while working with Postman’s recruiting team.
  • Manage and develop the processes necessary to operate the team effectively.
  • Contribute to company-wide engineering initiatives as part of Postman’s engineering management team.

About You

  • You have the experience building the engineering foundation for customer facing billing and subscription features for Saas products
  • You will have familiarity with related concerns as we scale - including but not limited to taxation, audit/reporting capabilities, multi-currency requirements
  • You are familiar with products/off-the-shelf solutions in the space to make effective build-vs-buy decisions so that the team can be focussed on delivering value.
  • You have managed engineering teams that have a strong record of shipping.
  • You can function both like an Engineering Manager and a Systems Solution Engineer.
  • You enjoy partnering with designers, product managers and working closely with cross functional teams such as growth, sales, finance and support
  • You are equally passionate about building workflows for internal teams as much as you enjoy building customer facing products.
  • You have an eye for great product features and efficient operations and can balance diverse requirements.
  • You are comfortable working in a flattened hierarchy and flexible reporting structure.
  • You are curious, respectful and a solid communicator who is hungry to bag the experience of tightly coupled Engineering & Operations
  • You have built and scaled the billing system for a SaaS product through an order of magnitude or more.
  • You understand interfaces with various teams - including but not limited to sales, business, finance, and growth.
  • You have managed engineering teams that have a strong record of shipping.
  • You are rigorous. The billing platform deals with real money, and great emphasis needs to be placed on external and internal software quality.
  • You have an eye for great products and can work effectively with engineers, product managers, and designers to build them.
  • You are a strong communicator who can streamline the flow of information between Engineering and other teams.
  • You have an inherent curiosity about how things work.
